Are you familiar with using feeler gauges to control depth?

  Thanks Tim,
I looked on the Legacy site but didn't see the nut online. I will call them
Monday.
I am using a Porter Cable plunge router but it is not easy to "fine adjust"
for increasing, decreasing depth of cut etc.
  The Router Raizer looks promising.
I'm going to try and find some reviews.
I appreciate your usual ardent help with the site.

    Hi Joe,

The split nut is still available from Legacy. Call them for a replacement.
 Don't bother emailing them.

I'm not familiar with the router that you have on the machine. Have you
seen an accessory called a Router Raizer? It's a screw and a handle to raise
and lower your router by a small increment. Is that the kind of control that
you are looking for, or are you looking for more plunge depth and rapid raising
and lowering the modern z-axis provided? I don't recall anyone ever talking
about adding a z-axis to an old steel machine, so you could be the first which
is why there is a lack of responses.

      Hey Guys!
I am having trouble searching the archives. Forgive me, I know all this
has been dealt with before.
Perhaps you can just furnish links.
I need a new split nut (or upgrade) for the lead screw on a old steel
rail machine and:
also is there a reasonable Z axis upgrade for it with maybe a screw to
raise and lower the router?
Just dug the mill out today and a rope turning for a dresser applied
molding.
      Thx

      Joe
