well, a couple of comments from someone who has "been there and done 
that"...i also agree that grease and sawdust are a very bad combo and would 
not go in that direction...i also studied bernie's set up prior to doing 
mine and  the carriage assembly could jump upward a bit...granted, it would 
take a lot to do that, but the possibility still exists...and this set up 
could not work on the "Y" axis...and in regards to tim's comment, the 
bearings i used, when i converted all three axis',  is of a "V" design,but 
reversed...the rail is of a "V" configuration/design with the bearings 
riding inside the "V"
