HI Bill

I like the template idea of indexing. its simple and there is no counting of
all those little holes. (holes in the indexing plates.) I have in the past
used colored self stick dots to mark the holes. I have also used Sharpe's to
mark the plates. If done right all methods work well. but for me, simple is
best. and when I cant do simple, I go with Mike's gear indexing. (Did I state
that those holes are little? Well I've been known to loose count while
indexing. that's why I like simple .Mistakes are to easy to make. )

talk to you all latter. Thanks for your input Bill.

P.S.

Tim dose not belong to to facebook. So all his friends cant wish him a happy

Happy Birthday Timmy. ;-) (lets see how many likes we can get here!) ;-p Im

I do that only after the first count i put a circle or arrow with white board
marker and just clean them off when the job is done

Different colours if there is more than one lot of indexing to do on a job.

Very Nice Curtis

Here is yet another way to use those magnetic sheets. cut them into small pie
shaped pieces about 3/4 long. Do a hole count and place the point of the pie
at each hole you will be using. That way, after the first time you count, each
hole will be already marked and ready for the next run.

Mike OK

Hello Everyone.

I know and do like to use Mikes gear indexing method, it works very well for
complex/numbers of cuts. But for simple indexing.

This is another method that I like to use.

Its easy and to the point.(excuse the pun) What you see is what you get, type
of method.

I had these disks cut form me, I wedge them between the indexing plate and the
screw that hold the plate onto the legacy's head-stock. with out any troubles
you can see the holes from indexing plate, there is no counting of holes just,
unlock the indexing pin and adjust the plate to the edge to the plastic stencil
.

ON the indexing methods 2. I found out that the magnetic dryer vent covers do a
very good job, they stick to the steel, can be locked into place and do not
move unless you remove them. The best part with this is, the sheets are cheep
to buy and easy to cut with a pair of scissors. (the price for these sheets
were under $5.00 for the pack.) so they offer a cheap and effective method of
indexing that is the same but different method. The old saying goes, "there
is always more then one way to skin a cat". Here are two examples Of how to do
the same thing, differently. ;-)
