Tim, thanks for the encouraging word. I have lots more I will be showing.
I’ll try to let this group know when I come out with another LOM video, at
least for a while

I posted this last September but I felt the need to show this again. Bill’s
version is awesome but seems to be a lot of work. Since I have the PC plunge
router. I take advantage of the spring action of the router. It is just 2
upright pieces of plywood and a cross piece between them. I mounted a shop fox
press screw above the router and the screw action pushes the router down and
the router springs lift it back up up. Less than an hour to make this and I
have accurate control of depth of cut (Z axis) even while running. I still
lock the router height when cutting. It was simple to make and cost only about
$15 for the screw press. I only have travel based on the router capacity but
never found a need for more since I also have table height adjustability. I
mounted a pointer on the router and a magnetic base on the upright bracket so I
can use a metal 6” ruler to monitor cutting depth accuracy. I set the router
on the top of the work piece and “zero the ruler out” and then watch the plunge
depth.

I have started a channel on Youtube and have several videos out there already
(none about the LOM yet). I plan on doing a series of videos on all the
improvements to my LOM if I get an interest from my subscribers. If you are
interested in this you might want to subscribe to my channel (named: “russ
veinot”) and leave a comment expressing your interest. The improvements on my
LOM are numerous and might be of interest to other LOM owners. FYI, I think
you will love my design improvement for the table height adjustment. If you
watch my channel, I will put out a video showing details of my Z axis adjustor.
Comments (any input) on my channel are always welcomed. If anyone here has a
youtube channel, let me know, I would definitely be interested in view your
videos.

I’d love to tell you Richard but unfortunately along with all my original
legacy stuff it was lost in the fire that took everything I owned

I had to start all over again it on my list of things to remake

Bill What are the dimensions and size of the alloy plate/s?? I think that tilt
is a great idea.

Richard

http://ornamentalmills.com/Bill_Bulkeley/tilting-z-axis/index.html

which let me do things like in this

http://ornamentalmills.com/Bill_Bulkeley/Candlestick/index.html

and also this could be made as well even though i did it on a modified revo

http://www.ornamentalmills.com/Bill_Bulkeley/bolts/index.html

having a z axis and tilting it opens up a whole new area of ornamental milling.
in my opinion that’s what is the advantage of a z axis

Can someone explain the advantage of having an Z axis as opposed to a plunge
router.

I have both the Woodchuck and the Revo, and the best, in my opinion and it may
be only my opinion and not others!!!

These two LOM's seem to work well together. Although the Revo rails could be a
little longer

I have set the wheels in motion for getting a drive motor/ speed control, limit
switches etc for the Revo,

I already have the leadscrew motor on the Woodchuck,, absolute godsend and even
more so with the spindle drive motor that I have fitted------------Vari.speed.

As Curtis mentioned in a past post it allows for a more relaxed time in the
shop and allows one time to do other things.--------such as keeping out of the
way of wood chips and router dust!!!!!?????????

In my next post I will say how I have mounted my Revo to a bench, in an effort
to save space, and get to front and rear of it

Regards

Richard
