well, I cannot pass on a long term opinion on the company itself, as I only bought my first machine a few years ago...I was conversing with andy back when he first formed the company, and I did see him(them) at the huge woodworking show, held every two years in Atlanta...never purchased a machine back then due to the length I needed...it was basically a ritual/in house joke that I would call every two years, just before the show, to get a quote on a 12ft. machine...just could not afford it at that time...when I finally was considering buying my machine(s) a few years ago, I found out about this group and joined, and then began hearing all the bad stuff about the company, and it's somewhat, non-existent support of their older equipment...but I forged ahead and made the purchases of machines, that I found on ebay, anyway...after I began my mods, I did call them for various things, some they had, most they did not...and thought they were being as nice as possible...learned that talking to cindy was the way to get anything, if they had it...this included some, non-important, info and explanations as to why certain things were as they were... and being a restorer, by trade and hobby, I understood the non availability of most of the parts/accessories that was once offered...you cannot go back to ford and buy parts for a 1932 coupe...or back to oliver machinery co. to maintain our large pattern maker's lathe...I would bet that it was a survivability tactic that they decided to switch to CNC...and it just was not profitable to support the older equipment...to carry every spare part for every machine , it seems, would not be financially viable...but I like mac's idea of someone from the group, that they trust, being a liaison, between the group and the company...the fact that they have posted on their CNC website, their status on their older equipment, a link to the group's page, a link to my facebook, legacy page(totally shocked by that!) shows that they are trying to keep all previous legacy buyers linked together, to possibly help each other...I thought they would object to me setting up a facebook page, somewhat in their "company" name, without their consent, but it seems they did not mind...and if it turns out that they are now ready to absolutely move on from their original machines, perhaps we can ask them(nicely!...LOL!), for information...I would still like to contact the company that extruded the aluminum rails...or perhaps a hard drive that could easily be sent to someone that can laser-cut the gears, the acme rod, we know where to get that, perhaps some help in finding someone who could make/reproduce to "Z" axis accessory, which, if priced affordably, would probably fly off the shelf!...but then again, the key being "affordable"...and the last request, my personal "holy grail", and one which I have spent many hours trying to find, is that 40 ft machine...it is fairly high on my bucket list...LOL!...so, my suggestion is, it's a big sandbox, let's play nice, and maybe we might get something useful from the company
