One thing to look at will be the levelness of the router.  If the router is not parallel to the rails and is higher on one side it will leave a ridge.  It could be as simple as sawdust under the y axis plate.   Otherwise, open the split nut and get the carriage out of the way.  Rotate the work with the gears and use a palm sander as it rotates.
