Richard don’t knock the shorter 900 too much I will be good for rotary table
work you will get more height for it over the revo and a larger dia

Hi Tim

I think there is a mix up. I have all the pen making equipment and as for the
large chuck adapter, that was made by me when I had a metal work lathe

I had no problems cutting threads ,welding or other things that were needed to
improve the LOM's

I just can't see myself rushing out to buy a 200

The larger chuck with all the different jaws came with a fitting to fit my
normal wood lathe , that I hardly use. I am not into bowl turning and I try to
make the Revo do all I need

Now like Bill, I have increased the rail length (from the 900 ) it is a better
tool.

I do not know what the 900 will be like when fitted with the shorter Revo rails
and leadscrew probably a disaster!!!!???

Regards

Richard

Hi Richard,

This is really nerdy stuff, but here it goes. Legacy on the model 200 came with
the option of a pen mandrel that screwed into the spindle. Then pen mandrel was
proprietary to the 200. So when they started offering the revo, they made a
change to the spindle that would be able to take a standard to the USA drill
chuck and that was used to hold a standard pen mandrel that every woodturning
supplier sells.

As pointed out earlier, the revo uses a 5/8" mandrel which is a shopsmith
standard. So if you need to use your 4 jaw chuck most people sell and you would
only use on the revo, you would get the shopsmith adapter for say you nova
chuck. Otherwise, you would use the 1-8 to adapter to go with the standard
lathes available here an get the adapter that Bill pointed out to fit the revo.

How's that for a complete answer!

Tim

I have measured the thread and it is definitely 3/8 x24 tpi unf

What exactly do you want to hold in such a small chuck, is it pen making stuff
? If so I have some I don't use.

Roger,

You just haven't offered him a "King's Ransom" - he's holding out.

Offer him enough, and when his wife finds out - you'll have a deal!

To be honest, I don't think you (or I) would want a Model 200 bad enough to
offer up a "King's Ransom"for one.

Heck, I bet if your offer got high enough, Tim Krause would ship you his! But,
you better make the offer in US Dollars.

Cheers.

However you are wrong, for this gentleman wishes to keep this wonderful piece
of machinery because unlike his CNC machines it does not take up a lot of room!

And by the way, what are these Pounds you mention because they have now been re
launched as Boris Dollars as he is so keen to suck up to Donald.

Please be aware that normal political service will be resumed but currently we
don't know when.

Cheers

Roger,

EVERYTHING is "for sale"! Including his Model 200!

You just haven't put enough "Pounds" in his paws! LoL!

Economists call it "Supply and Demand".

Hi Ray

First of all I remember delivering your machine to you.

Now if you send me a picture of the Headstock on your REVO I might be able to
tell what NOVA Insert you need, since retiring I have done a bit of consultancy
work for Teknatool (NOVA).

On the subject of the Model 200 I know where one resides in the UK and I would
buy it if I could but he won't sell it.

Cheers

Roger

Thanks Bill – that’s just what I need. Can someone tell me what a 3/8- 24
thread is? Is that 3/8” diameter and 24 tpi?

Ideally I’d like an insert for my Supernova Chuck but not found one with that
small a diameter. There is a firm that will cut a customised one I found – now
all I have to do is find them again 😊

The revo to my knowledge never had a morse taper. Only people modifying the
mill would have. as for the thread on the headstock look at the attached pic
legacy used to sell a chuck to fit the thread size is on the pic of their add
from way back when

OK - here we go.

The REVO was supposed to have a 2MT morse taper - but for the life of me I
cannot find out where it is. Anyone?

Does anyone know what the thread is on the headstock - there is a nut holding
the Index Hub (female) to the geared section?

If you do/dont know the size of the thread - do you know any chuck or drill
chuck that fits?

Thanks.
