Hello Eric
The Legacy can offer a lot to any wood turner. things like fluting and roping are what the Legacy was designed for. but it can also mortice and add details onto already made spindles almost as easily. the Legacy works more like manual cnc unit. only big difference is that, gears and an acme screw are used for movement instead of a computer and servo motors.
I personally like to use the Legacy for detail work on spindles, I use both my lathes (wood and steel) and Legacy together in many projects. For me its a good marriage of all my tools, The weak spots of one machine are covered by the strong points of the others.
Depending on what kind of wood working you like to do, The Legacy comes in a number of different sizes, and depending on the modal you choose, each has into own strong points. As a General rule of thumb. the older units can be a bit weak on stability, and were made in the mid-set of making spindles. the Newer Legacy are more solidly built, and there design is more like a CNC machine, covering a much wider range of flat as well as spindle types of jobs. As far as INFO. On the Legacy Our archives are now open to you, there is a vast amount of knowledge being shared almost every day, by our members.
Have a good night.
Hope to talk to you soon.

Good Evening Folks,
I ran into a Legacy 900 for $500 in California, with shipping to Florida total cost comes to $1140. I still work everyday but love WoodTurning when I get the opportunity along playing with my laser and wood CNC. The Legacy seems interesting but there is not much information out there, very little photos. Any thoughts whether it’s a good deal and if it’s something an amateur woodworker could use. I want to use it for putting character, flute designs on vases and such. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Michael,
Yeah it has potential and would be a great idea for your mill. lol. Like I said earlier makes me wish I still had my mill. But that would be like you said more toys less and less time. I have not jumped on the CNC as I am still learning the laser engraving business which is really starting to take off. Just needed to market myself. . But still considering the CNC just not now. Christmas shopping 99 percent done. Only thing left is my wife said I have to order my own present. Go figure. lol
Kind Regards,

Hi Timothy, So many toys, so little time (and money).
The Woodmizer lathe attachment and what it can do has me thinking with 20 acres of mature red pine and my property and a Timberking saw mill I could be a niche market if it would work on my mill.
Still contemplating jumping into CNC but can’t decide on how big, how small, how many axis, laser add on, and then theirs a water cooled spindle or not?
Christmas shopping done?
