Curt,

I 3D printed that one, 2.5 hours print time. After Vcarve, I sent it over to
Shapr3D to give it dimension. Then finally over to Prusa Slicer for Gcode.

Next time hopefully tomorrow (off a few days from work) I will start with laser
prototype first because with wood I will have it cut in minutes to see if it
works. From there I can go to a stronger medium.

I will be able to play with the laser late next week. if all goes well I can
post

the programs to you.

I have not tried making the drive gears before. should be fun. ;-)

By the way, was your gear 3D printed or laser cut?

Curt,

You you did tell me, I just wanted to print it. The only thing I was the
square. While it was printing it I decided to measure the one I had, that is
when I realized it’s a 5/16 square in the center of the gear. Thanks for the
info on the gear gadget also, I had to download it.

I am sorry , I though I told you that is was for the indexing gear, it meshes
up to the Legacy's new laser cut gears. The program was a 60 tooth gear, you
could almost by-pass the directional gear set all together with that large gear
on the acmes screw.

I like the red COLOR, it matches Legacy's color theme. ;-)

I will call her tomorrow and take it from there. I did make a gear using the
file Curt sent me, fyi the square hole is 5/16 not ¼. I think it’s a great
starting point. Thanks Curt! I need to resize it to fit the drive gears, but
its fun.

That’s the way I would go if I was over there Cindy first then if that didn’t
pan out

The metal laser guy next ,plastic gears I would look at for specials that you
don’t use very much

And only in the large tooth format in not sure the G gear could even be made in
large teeth and that would be a loss of 3 pitches

I do suggest he call Cindy, as I mentioned that they are still making the gear
sets so I'd be willing to

bet they are still making the drive gears.

If not as I mentioned we have a guy right here in our state that is willing to
make gears. They have a metal laser

cutting machine.

Now that just sucks, I’m not sure those little teeth would be strong enough to
make out of plexiglass

Maybe you guys should find a laser or water cutting person to get metal gears
again

Hello again everyone.

Bill.

I was told (second hand info.) But form a person who I trust 100%.

He told me that, Legacy was NO Longer going to make the gears for the older
manual machines.

So as far as I can see it. Its up to us now. If we want parts we will have to
make them our self's now.

More on this topic latter.

Have a good day.

Good morning Eric.

I have been playing around with plastic gearing for the Legacy. But I have been
looking at the other end of the gear linkage.

The drive gears are much smaller tooth design, I see no real reason why they
too can not be made out of plastic's?

In the past, we have had a few people cut out gears for the group on a laser,
out of metal. (but sadly these people no longer have access to the equipment,
do this any more.)

I have DFX files for the gears that I have been making to match up with
Legacy's indexing gears, If you like I can forward those to you, or If you like
I can do some more trial and error and see if I can make these drive gear
first, To see how they work. Its up to you.

I am in the process of making a new attachment for the Legacy, I am cutting out
gears out of Plexiglas and Acrylic for this attachment. So it really isn't that
big of a deal for my to add a 1/4" square in the middle of the gear, For me the
biggest factor is trying to find the correct size of gear to make the pitches
you need.

I use V carve for my programing and then make CRV file into DFX for cutting on
the laser.

Here are two files to see if you can do something with them. If they work for
you, I have no problems sending them to the group.

Have a good day.

Good Morning,

I not sure if I should start a new message or add on to this. I think I am
almost done putting my 900 together with a Z-axis carriage. My machine only
came with drive gears F &G, is this something I need to start working on now
or can it wait. I think I can make them once I understand how they work, I
have no background in this sort of thing. What I do have is a is a laser
engraver-cutter, 3D printer, and a

CNC that can mill aluminum. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I came across some HDPE for a very reasonable price. I was hoping to try it for

Tim I was told that the name Derlin was a DuPont trade name. and this Acetron
was the same stuff but made by another name only. If you feel the Derlin on my

the UHMW. It is easer for me to find, (but I have not priced it $$$ wise in
many years.)

More latter.
