Good morning Eric.
I will make the hole set, Or at least the Gears I did not make before. (I'm not
sure when I will get the time? but it should be sometime next week, Most likely
next Friday.)But none the Less, I will make them as soon as a can. Have a good
day.

When I made the DFX files for the drive gears, I did it off the cuff, "So to

mate up with the Legacy gearing.) I did not draw up all the proper tooth count
for all the drive gears.
If you want I can re-draw a few more gears files for you, So you have all the
proper gear sets to match the Legacy drive gears.
I have no idea on how the plastic will hold up, Long term? But I am hopeful
that your 3D printed gears will work out well for you.If you (or anyone in this
group) can buy the Legacy drive gears, I think it would be a good idea, If not
these homemade versions should work out well, at least in the short term.  I am
in the R&D stages, Lots of testing will need to be done. before I will fully
recommend working with plastics for the Legacy's gears.  But for people like
yourself, who can use what I have to offer, Everything is freely given.I am
"NOT" trying to sell anything, Except, maybe the idea that, When there is a

I made a couple modes to your file so I could 3d print them.  The gears are 1/8
inch thick and the identification labels 1/32 in depth, I need to move a few of
the labels as they are too close to the square whole. For 3d printing I needed
resize the square to 5/16. The print job took 3 hours as I printed them all at
the same time.  Cost of material was a $1.78. I will post the file once I fix
the labeling.
I do want order a set from legacy, but I am going try see how this set works
over the next few days.

I am going to print a set of your gears with my 3D printer.  I think I need to
change my pressure angle to 25 on mine the still edit each one.  More to
follow. Thanks!

Hello Everyone.

Eric. and everyone who wants these gears.

I made a program today,  The Drive gears that I made fit the Legacy's perfectly.

Here are the file.  The DFX file should work for everyone.

I can make others, what I did today was just basic tooth counts of
60,50,40,30,25 tooth gears.

The Diametric pitch for the drive gears are 25. the Newer laser cut
ones/Indexing and duplex gears are 12.

I made a set for both today.

I know that the Plexiglas gears will not hold up. but  the white ones are
Derlin, They should hold up? (NOTE: the White/Derlin, one are to thick for the
directional gears to mesh with now, I plan to try to mill them down/make them
thinner.

At this time its all trial and error.

If anyone else wants to try, Feel free to use any info I am presenting.

I wish you all luck.

More latter.

Good morning Eric.

I have been playing around with plastic gearing for the Legacy. But I have been
looking at the other end of the gear linkage.

The drive gears are much smaller tooth design,  I see no real reason why they
too can not be made out of plastic's?

In the past, we have had a few people cut out gears for the group on a laser,
out of metal. (but sadly these people no longer have access to the equipment,
do this any more.)

I have DFX files for the gears that I have been making to match up with
Legacy's indexing gears, If you like I can forward those to you, or If you like
I can do some more trial and error and see if I can make these drive gear
first, To see how they work. Its up to you.

I am in the process of making a new attachment for the Legacy, I am cutting out
gears out of Plexiglas and Acrylic for this attachment. So it really isn't that
big of a deal for my to add a 1/4" square in the middle of the gear, For me the
biggest factor is trying to find the correct size of gear to make the pitches
you need.

I use V carve for my programing and then make CRV file into DFX for cutting on
the laser.

Here are two files to see if you can do something with them. If they work for
you, I have no problems sending them to the group.

Have a good day.

Good Morning,

I not sure if I should start a new message or add on to this. I think I am
almost done putting my 900 together with a Z-axis carriage.  My machine only
came with drive gears F &G,  is this something I need to start working on now
or can it wait.  I think I can make them once I understand how they work, I
have no background in this sort of thing.  What I do have is a is a laser
engraver-cutter, 3D printer, and a

CNC that can mill aluminum.   Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello Everyone, And Good morning to all. ;-)

Mac. Yes the new gears are a heavy 1/4" the old ones were 3/16.

Jeff. I'm not really sure why they broke?  I think it could be the plastic and
metal meshing, but it also could have been the cold temps in my shop?  Due this
Question, I made the second gear to try to find out for sure why?

A third possibility could be, the my mounting of the motor and gear set-up,
Perhaps the gears were not set correctly due my my brackets having to much play
in it???

ALL That I can say for sure is, What I have now, And that I have a lot more
testing to do.

PVC is very hard, and it looks to me at this time the hardness also made it a
little brittle.

I am hoping that this Acrtron GP plastic will hold up?  Bye the way.

This is what I found out about this product.

Hello Everyone.

Sadly the PVC gears that I made last week, started to chip and break. as I was
using my machine last night.

So this morning, I was able to find a different type of plastic, and I was able
to make a new set of Gears that should hold up to the Legacy.

The material is called Acetron GP. (Its not cheap to buy, but I was told that
it should hold up for my gears that I am making. And it is Laser friendly, So I
bought some today.)

Here are some photos.

Tomorrow I will do some more testing, with both Acetron gears as well as with
my Original Legacy gear that I used for my specks.

Please let me know what you think?

talk to you all more latter.

Even though they were an option, the previous owner (if they had them) doesn’t
typically want to sell them separately. (Can’t blame them really)

Those machines aren’t the ones that break down for shipment very well at 1200
or so pounds.
