Here is the hole message. (second try!) Hello Everyone. It's -5 outside today. (Thanks Tim, for sending Bill some cold air, it hit my area in its way to Auz. ) ;-p Since my shop is un-heated, (I use a propane heater to heat the shop when I'm working, But today its just to cold to go out there and try to heat the shop.) This is a reply that I gave to a private e-mail Explaining what I was doing/ how this jig works. I think everyone will enjoy this info. The Planetary gear system is the concept that I am using to make this jig work. The "Sun" Gear is pinned to the tables supports, (It dose not move with the table.) The Planet gear is fixed to the table. so it moves around the sun gear when the table turns. the planet gear has a fixed pin on it. so as it moves the arm moves the table. thus making an oval as the table turns. I am using my Legacy/overhead router for the cutting. (at this time.) I Hope the photo's help explain what is happening here? photo 1 shows the "Sun" gear lifted up, a post, is running through the ball bearing center. (its pined under the table, to keep it form moving .) photo 2 shows the linkage. (as the table moves the planate gear rotates moving the pin, making the table move back and forth as the planate turns around the sun gear.) Photo3 shows the planate gear/pin and table with linear rails. Photo's 4&5 show the over all set-up on my Legacy (Ornamental Mill.) But I will be able to make it adjustable latter. At this time there is a 2" off-set. The table is disposable, there are only 4 screw holding it down onto the slides. I am using linear slides for the table. (in two photo's I used drawer slide they worked but they got in the way of my Legacy side rails. so I replaced them.) If all goes well, I will be making an oval picture frame, and latter some small bowls. talk to you and everyone more latter.
