Yes there is a world of difference for production tools and
ones made for home use.
The shaper unit that I saw first hand. (which looks like the
one used in this video's.) had a pattern on the base, that the
shaper followed. It could be a very dangerous tool. That's
why I promote the Legacy's version. (But I did enjoy seeing
this video.) ;-) The Legacy has some draw-back, and problems
with some of the methods of use. but Bye far it is a safe tool
when used as designed.

and I have to disagree, this is a far better and faster method
to do these types of cuts... unlike a Legacy, no templates are
necessary... the spindle "rides" along the profile of the
piece being worked on... you need a gentle touch when doing
this, but it is easily mastered... the profile of the cut
desired is easily done as you only need to grind one cutter...
the knife is then locked into the center of the shaper spindle
and most times extends past the face of the spindle usually no
more than 1/4" to 3/8" when doing these types of "kiss"
milling cuts... I will say that this method is better suited
when doing production work(as the person in the video is
doing) and this method was eliminated by OSHA a long time
ago... the Legacy is excellent for small runs, but you will
