Hi Beth,
Using the Child-Parent relationship, is a great idea. You can add
other categories like "Unproven" to the default list.
However, for major lines in my tree, I like to add something to the
name so it's obvious on the Family View that the relationships aren't proven.
If you don't want your addition to the name to print in reports, you
can put it in privacy brackets.

Thanks so much for the response. I have been mulling over how to best handle
the situation and decided to enter "challenged" in the children relationship
to mother and add a note regarding same. I would prefer a choice of
"unproven" but that is not on the list, but I will know what it means. Great
feature for children not proven per census records and wills. In my research
I often have wills that designate the biological father of the children, but
name the wife without given her relationship to the children.
