Hi Beth,
Using the Child-Parent relationship, is a great idea. You can add other categories like "Unproven" to the default list.

However, for major lines in my tree, I like to add something to the name so it's obvious on the Family View that the relationships aren't proven. If you don't want your addition to the name to print in reports, you can put it in privacy brackets.

feature for children not proven per census records and wills. In my research
I often have wills that designate the biological father of the children, but
name the wife without given her relationship to the children.
