Legacy users, this is pretty much off topic to you. Feel free to skip.

Susan-

Excel cannot normally recognize dates prior 1900. For most of us, this is
fine. We want to use current or nearly current dates.

For us serious genealogists, this is grave! No pun intended.

I use dates prior to 1900, by using an add-in. If you are like me and want
to use prior to 1900 dates, this suggestion works for me. Use XDATE
functions. Read about them here: http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/files/xdate.htm
It is free, and I love it.

Robert

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Date entry bug, i.e. 1900-07

Thanks for that Robert! Maybe my change over occurred when I went from
Windows ME to my new laptop with XP. I just did some testing in
Legacy, and when I type 1930-36 it correctly changes it to 1930-1936.
I moved my date setting back to 1911-2010. This will be good to know,
too, when I work with dates in Excel. For some reason, Excel won't
sort by 1800 and 1900 years - doesn't recognize them very well. So
this may help me out a lot!

Thank you,
Susan
