Pamela,

Are you attempting to open the gedcom file using the "open" option under the file menu? If you are, you are using the wrong option. Under the file menu you must select the "import" option. This will import the gedcom file into Legacy. You will need to show Legacy where the gedcom file is located so it can start the import process. Once the importing starts, just follow the instructions. You should find it quite simple.

Hi

This is probably a stupid question with a simple answer but I cannot work it
out. When I am sent a Gedcom and try to open it Legacy goes straight into
update mode and updates the system but will not let me open the Gedcom. I
feel very ignorant but can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong as it means
I cannot open Gedcoms that are sent to me via email.

I have been a lurker appreciating all the advice on the list.

Many thanks
