My census records come as jpg images. When you say yours are pdf files, do you
mean the transcript you typed of the listings or the actual census page
converted into pdf format? Is there an advantage in having them as pdf files?

Believe it or not - attach it as a SOUND FILE (change the file extension to
.pdf). The file will be there - and viewable if you click on it. I have done
this with many .pdf files of census records.
