Here is what I am doing. I created a Master Source. In this case a Death Certificate. I then go to the individual and click Cite a Master Source. I select the death certificate and then I select it and am returned to the "Assigned sources for" window. In the Events column this entry is blank. Note that I do have one Death event already cited using the Social Security Death Index.
Now you can't die twice but in my logic I should be able to have multiple sources for any event even death. So it would seem I am doing something wrong here. Jim On 5/21/07, Cathy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Hi Jim, Can you clarify what the source is attached to at present? I can only guess. 1) You have an "empty event" with a source attached. If so, edit the event. However I don't know whether this could be the situation as I can't attach a source to an empty event. Legacy is asking for an Event Name before it will save the event + source. 2) You have a source attached to the Unspecified field for an individual. On the Assigned Sources window for that individual highlight this source and then click the Copy to Source Clipboard button. Add your event then source it using the Source Clipboard. (This source now on the clipboard can also be used for other people. This is the best way to copy Master Source and Source Detail/Source Detail Text etc) Remove the source from the unspecified field 3) You don't really mean an assigned source (a source attached to an individual) but an unused Master Source If this is so, when assigning a source, use the Cite a Master Source button. Please get back to us if I've misunderstood your problem or you need clarification. Cathy At 09:07 AM 22/05/2007, you wrote: >I have an assigned source with no event.
