There have been some good replies to this already, but this point caught my attention:

"It is frustrating to be online, say checking census on a newly found person in your line, and see a familiar name as you go down the page, and have to either write it down just in case you don't have it or minimize the page and go into Legacy to the person's events to see if it is there."

It is not necessary to minimise a window to go to another program, though it is one way to achieve the result.

An alternative is to click on the wanted program/window in the menu bar (which I keep at the bottom of my screen, though it can be moved to other edges).

Or, use your keyboard to switch between the open windows by holding down the <Alt> key and pressing <Tab> as many times as it takes to reach the one you want. Use your left hand, put your thumb on <Alt> to hold it down, and tap <Tab> with the index or middle finger. To go the "other" way (very useful if you're tapping away and go past the one you want), hold down <Shift> as well.

You can have many programs and windows open at once. The limiting factors are the amount of memory in your computer, and the amount of free space on your hard drive that can be utilised. I often have several open - right this minute I've got Legacy, two OpenOffice documents, a folder in My Documents, Firefox, Google Talk, and Thunderbird with 7 separate emails open in their own windows, and quickly flick through them to get to the one I need next using the keyboard, and that's pretty typical for me on any given day.

Hope this helps. :-)

Kind Regards,
Wendy Howard
