I chose to record this information in a slightly different manner. I use the Godfather and Godmother events to record when someone is a Godparent for a child.
I do the same. And similar for when someone is a Witness to a Will or at a Wedding, or when anyone acts in some particular capacity in relation to another person.
When the person is "receiving" the Godparenting or Witnessing or whatever, I include that as part of the Event, usually in the Notes or Description. So Joe Bloggs will have an Event named Witness which says he was a Witness to the marriage of John Smith and Jane Doe. In the Marriage Notes for John Smith and Jane Doe I will include the information that their Witnesses were Joe Bloggs, and Elsie Green.
I really don't see the need for or advisability of having separate Events for His Godfather, Her Godfather etc. What is wrong with just using the appropriate pronoun in the Sentence construction and surely it is easy enough if one reads "Godparent" to know in each instance whether this is actually a Godmother or a Godfather?
