Hope you've got flame-proof underwear! You're likely to need it if you
pursue the subject :-) I think Kathy mentioned it in passing (and ducked
for cover) simply as a means of making sure the user group was still
listening and active.

If you're new to the group, which I now assume from your response you
are, then you need to be aware of one or two facts of life about this group.

There are two main camps in this user group (3 if you include the silent
lurkers). The first group wishes to do family history and this,
nowadays, includes same-sex relationships. Then there are the pure,
biologicals who want to do traditional genealogy. According to these and their hangers-on (the religious right), same-sex relationships are an abomination, and should not even be contemplated by software writers.

Whenever this subject has been broached in the past, it has, eventually,
degenerated into a flame-war - hence the jokey reference to asbestos
panties.

So, try and explore the subject if you want, but be prepared for
intolerance to raise its' ugly head.
