Legacy User Group Subscribers,

Please visit http://www.moss-fritch.com/legacy.htm for a work around to
adding same gender relationships in Legacy. I feel confident in saying this
is a feature that will not be added to Legacy Family Tree. Changing Legacy's
programming to accommodate same gender marriages would not only require
extensive rewriting of Legacy's code and subsequent beta testing; there
would also be a ripple effect that would affect several of the Legacy add-on
programs made by other companies.

Unfortunately, there have always been a few very angry LUG subscribers who
can’t discuss this issue in a civil manner in this forum. However, LUG
subscribers are free to exchange e-mail messages between themselves, or they
may join the RootsWeb mailing list for Legacy Family Tree at
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Software/LEGACY.html and carry on the
discussion there.

In the past, some LUG subscribers, gay and straight, have switched to other
genealogy programs and quit the Legacy User Group because of inflammatory,
emotional exchanges that got out of control. In addition, I have had to
unsubscribe those who just can’t “leave it alone” and move on, even after I
have contacted them privately. So, please take this discussion about same
gender relationships off-list now. In addition, everyone please review the
Legacy User Group guidelines at
http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp. Please pay special attention
to the following rules, abbreviated here:

1. Keep the tone of your messages friendly. Practice tolerance.
4. Persons sending hate mail, etc. will be unsubscribed from the Users
Group.
5. Don't send religious opinion.

In addition, there is really no need for any of you to reply on-list to
messages about same gender relations and Legacy because there isn’t anything
new you could say that hasn’t been said already. Please search the LUG
archives at
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ for past
messages.

I want to say for the record that I am an active member of the LDS Church;
however, I have gay half-sister who I love unconditionally. This does not
mean we share the same views on gay issues; however, we get along well
because we treat each other with kindness, dignity and respect. When I hear
people verbally attacking gays and lesbians I am deeply offended because
it’s like they are attacking my family.

If any of you wish to reply, please contact me off-list at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you,

Jim Terry
