Actually, you do not need to go to that area to turn reminders off, only
to 
turn them back on. The reminder itself has a checkbox where you can turn
it 
off. Even if you do not remember doing so, almost certainly you
unchecked 
the box sometime in the past. Don't worry though, most of us have done 
similar things and later can't figure out why the program is acting 
differently.
