YES it WILL tell you whether this is a birth, death or marriage event...... At the bottom of the list of "All Individulas Who Use This Location", on the left side it will show for each person highlighted, how the location applies to that particular individual......

Hi Meg,

Go to the Master Location list. (One way is View > Master lists - Location)

If you've either used the 4 field US system of entering locations OR entered your locations consistently from smallest unit to largest always ending with the same type of large unit, you can sort the Master Location list so that all places in a particular country, county/state or town are brought together. I don't use the US system and so Sort my location list from Right to Left.

Then find the place of interest and highlight all locations that have that town or county in the location.
Then click Show List.
This will give you a list of the people with some connection with that place. It won't tell you whether that is a birth, death or residence etc.

If you haven't entered your locations in a consistent way, now may be the time to clean up your location list. Or you'll have to show list one at a time.

Tag the list on the same unused tag number and then use the Name List or the Search to find all those tagged with that number. In the search list, as in the name list, you can then choose to print those people along with the information you choose as a list or table.

Have not found the way yet to locate a person's file by first finding a city they lived in. I can find the placenames in the list of cities, counties, towns and all the other 'places'....but I cannot then get to the persons linked to that city. A friend was going to a small town in Kansas to do research and asked me if I had anything she could look up for me. I knew someone had lived in that city but had no idea who it was. I needed to find the town name and then get to the family files of people who'd lived there.
Can I get advice on how to do this please ? I've got Legacy version 4.
