Thanks Cathy for the insight - I went back and removed teh numbers in my Master Source Titles. I guess what I want to accomplish is to be able to have a Master Source File ID number, and a Detail File ID (if both are applicable) to the end note data, so I can refer to researchb data I may have filed either electron ically or in paper form.
I've decided to use the MRIN File ID system suggested (-1, -2, etc for all pieces of paper in the folder), but assigning a Master File ID has me at a stopping point. In an earlier message sent before reading your reply, I posed a question about keeping an offline Excel SS of numbers just to assign to each Master Number the next sequential number. I would really like for Legacy to assign the number, but is it possible? I have about 200 Master Sources and encountering more each time I go researching, and setting them up alpabetically could be daunting.
