If you bought version 6 after the specified date (I think it was June or July of last year) then the update is free. In essence those people were actually buying version 7, but allowed to use version 6 in the interim since v. 7 wasn't quite ready. Millenia *thought* the programming would be completed well before now. Many companies offer a free or reduced cost upgrade when the existing product is nearing the end of its life and the next release is imminent. Rarely is a free upgrade available for all existing users.
