You say it shows up with pins. On mine it shows up with balloons. I wonder why. I would prefer the pins.

Hi My experience with Legacy and VE is as follows. I have IE7 on my
computer but I use Fire Fox as my default browser. When I first
opened up maps I got a message that VE could not be found. Left maps
and played around a bit went back to maps and got a blank screen,
waited a long time and left again. about the third time and from the
locations field I finally saw a map and went back to the program to
maping my family and waited and the map showed up with the pins. The
next time I opened Legacy the map field was white again I waited a
long time and the map showed up! Now it showes up after a short
waite and works fine. It's almost as if the program had to find its
own way and now that it has, it works fine.

I purchased the upgrade to LG7 and upgraded. The VE does not work. I
get an error message:

   Error creating Virtual Earth map
   Error 53: File not found
Would you like to try again
   Yes/No/Quit

I have IE7.* on my m/c, but it is not my default browser (FFX3.*
is). I switched to IE7 as default and still got the same error. Can
anyone throw light on what the problem may be? Legacy has been of
very little help so far.

Thanks,

A simple google of the phrase "Error 53: File not found" gives the
answer as the first choice:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q178489/

SYMPTOMS
The following error message displays when you attempt to call a
function in a dynamic-link library (DLL) file from Visual Basic:
Error 53 "File Not Found"

The error message occurs at the function call statement.

CAUSE
This message occurs when Windows is unable to load the specified DLL,
particularly if the DLL has not been saved at the specified location.
It will also occur if the dependency files required by the DLL file
are not installed in the computer.

RESOLUTION
Install the dependency files required by the DLL file.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basically you are missing a DLL file (Dynamic Link Library).

There is no entry on the Legacy site for Error 53.
If you did any "house cleaning" on your computer you may have moved
or deleted the required file. You may need to un-install and
re-install Legacy.
