That's why I changed to wikis. Easy to assemble and easy to update. Very html friendly if that's an option for your output. Too much hoopla over crossing t's and dotting i's in a database that won't co-operate, although I appreciate that some people have time to track down the bugs and report them.

But what good is a .pdf. I'd have to have an absolutely perfect family datafile to do a .pdf. I always need to tweak the .rtf document a little before sending it out, so a .pdf is not good for me. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone else besides me and a couple others have gotten to the point where we do some research, but more disseminating information to family members in the form of booklets. Looking at a Preview is wonderful, a .pdf is fun, but if it doesn't transfer to a .rtf, it's useless.

Keith, I did read it all, and they DO show up in the NAME INDEX. Ruth did not clarify until just the last message that she is outputing to rtf. There are a number of problems with the rtf output. But try doing an ouput to pdf and you'll see the names are there.

Elizabeth - You did not read it all - the DO show up in the NAME INDEX
(I had pointed out how to do that earlier) - and in the narrative -
but in the DESCENDANT REPORT - there is a NAME INDEX at the end and
they are NOT there. That is what we are asking about.

If I do a descendant report - the Alternate Names DO show up IN THE
NARRATIVE. But - as Ruth says - they DO NOT show up in the NAME LIST.
And I must agree with her surprise about that - I would also expect
them to be there.
