Thank you Ann. I will look into that.

Shirley, I do not have a laptop with a dock. I have a Dell 1525 laptop from
Wal-Mart, nothing fancy. It has three places that when I am home I connect
a large monitor, a printer & a standard keyboard to the laptop. Best
regards, Ann

Gary, thank you for all of your comments. They were helpful.

I had the two computers networked at one time, but I kept having problems with
the router, so I disconnected it. There is a wireless service in the area
that I can sometimes get into, but not always. I only use the laptop a few
times a year, when I am traveling. The rest of the time it just sits in its
case. I can update it while I am away. But I need the new version installed
before I leave home, so I can transfer the database and be sure it is working.

I keep saying that my next computer will be a laptop with a dock, so I don't
have to maintain 2 computers. That way, most of the time I could use a
standard keyboard and my larger monitor. But for now, I live with the dual
setup.

You have already had the question about the setup file answered, but I
wanted to add that *any* file that you have on one computer can be copied or
moved to another. (There are exceptions for things such as iTunes music
downloads and other technical reasons, but that is true for all practical
purposes) So it doesn't matter whether you download the setup file a second
time, or move it from the desktop to the laptop. Once it is there it will
run exactly the same. In fact, if the two computers were networked you could
even navigate from the laptop to the desktop and run the setup routine over
the network.

I wonder why your Internet access is unreliable? As you will want to keep
both computers updated to the same build of Legacy that is something you
should try to resolve. How are you connecting the laptop that is different
from the desktop? If you are using wireless, most laptops also have a wired
ethernet port. When you need a strong Internet connection the wired port is
the better way to go.
