Good morning all, There is a listing of states and when they were admitted to the union on Wikipedia.org (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_date_of_statehood). I printed this off and have it next to my keyboard. Until the state was admitted/ ratified I always use "American Colonies" or the territory; after that I use USA. I have one family that came from France to Quebec and always use "Quebec, Canada" even though it is not totally correct.
