Keith is correct in that you do not *need* a third party program for zipping and unzipping, and that includes for the picture backup. It may be that that section of the help was never revised after Microsoft added basic zip functionality to XP (and Vista). (For info on the built-in Windows zipping, see http://www.logicaltips.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=594 ) I also have used WinZip, 7-Zip, Izarc and ZipGenius in the past. The latter three are free and do not nag you about updates as WinZip does. The 3rd party programs add additional features that Windows does not have but none of them are *necessary* if you are running XP or later.
