Keith is correct in that you do not *need* a third party program for zipping
and unzipping, and that includes for the picture backup. It may be that that
section of the help was never revised after Microsoft added basic zip
functionality to XP (and Vista). (For info on the built-in Windows zipping,
see http://www.logicaltips.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=594 ) I also have used
WinZip, 7-Zip, Izarc and ZipGenius in the past. The latter three are free
and do not nag you about updates as WinZip does. The 3rd party programs add
additional features that Windows does not have but none of them are
*necessary* if you are running XP or later.

I use 7-zip (free open source software) : http://www.7-zip.org/

Keith one needs a separate program to unzip and file the picture back-up.
Whether Windows own program will do this I don't know as I have always
used a separate program, which co-incidentally is what the Help Files
recommend.
