But it's not a bug; it's a standard method for recording descent in a narrative 
report that has been in use for decades.  At least if I'm understanding you 
correctly.

I'd have to do some research to see how the major genealogical publications 
handle changes in surname, but I wouldn't want this feature disabled for most 
situations.  In other words, I don't want the surname to always be reported in 
parentheses.
