Just be aware that if you create a GEDCOM in Legacy (or probably any other gen 
software) and post it at RootsWeb WorldConnect, data inside the angle brackets 
will disappear.  I thought they were a great way to flag probable but unproven 
dates and locations until I saw the results and had to backtrack.

I was taught that those brackets were used to mean the date was calculated. So, 
I use them for calculated dates (e.g. she was ten in the 1880 census, ergo she 
was born <1870>. I use the word “about” or “estimated” for those scenarios.
