Yes, I do understand that , but I prefer to let Legacy do its thing
instead of actually creating an unknown partner.

Whilst you might not create a partner Legacy will. Given that you are
not
linking the non-related child to an existing marriage then Legacy will
create a marriage. Legacy does not allow single parents as such. Check
the
Unknowns in View>Marriage List
