Man, my head is really spinning now!!! I thought I was confused when I first
asked my question about the clipboard, but I KNOW I am confused now!!

How many places are called 'Source? 'Detail'? 'Text/Comment'? Citation? Where
are they all located and what does each one do? Which ones do I use if I want
to enter 'identical' source and data for multiple people? Which ones do I use
if I want to use the same source but different data for multiple people? How
does a 'citation' differ from a 'source'? Is there a chart or something that
lists them and explains all these differences? Believe me, I have tried reading
the Help section and it is way too confusing when trying to figure out what I
should use where. (I sure wish the makers of Legacy had used a completely
different name for every one....)

Jenny:

You said it well, as usual.  My main concern was to point out that there are
two different fields called Text/Comments--one at the Master Source Level and
one at the Source Detail level--and that their uses are very different.
Hopefully that will now be clear to new users.

Rather than offering clarification I think you are confusing the issue.

There are two places where you can add Text/Comments to a Source -
either at the Master Source level or at the Source Detail level.  When
you copy a Source Citation with the Source Clipboard you copy every part
of that Source, which may or may not include Text or Comments in the
Master and/or the Detail.

You cannot add data to individual fields directly to the Source
Clipboard, which is what you imply.  You have to copy the complete
Citation and paste it in place and then add or delete any Text/Comments
as required.

Text or Comments added to a Master Source should be fairly generic and
relate to *all* instances of that Master Source, whereas Text or
Comments added to a Source Detail will be specific to the Individual(s)
to which the Source is attached.
