Jean, it was a long time ago and would have been in an earlier version of Legacy. I seem to remember I was looking in the Master Source list and there was no "Unspecified Event" to click on Show List to look for people with that as a source. I probably didn't think to go to Search > Find.
I am curious as to why most of your sources are in the Unspecified Event field. Even if all I have from a source is a person's name, for example, I attach the source to the name. My dream would be for the Legacy user interface to let me produce a set of indivudals (in your example, decsendants) and drag-and-drop a selected source onto that list of individuals. Very few clicks. Jennifer, I'd like to know more about your experience. Right now, 75% of my sources are attached to the unspecified event field. When I do a Search->Find, I can can locate sources attached to the unspecified event. Also, in the Master Source List dialog, when I select a source and click the Show List button, it brings up the complete list of individuals, even if the source is attached to the unspecified event. Are you referring to another method of searching? I'm still learning, and right now, I'm spending all my time sorting out source citations.
