May I suggest another variation. Keep a single master .fdb file on the USB thumb drive (memory stick). Carry it to each computer as needed, where Legacy is configured to find it and use it directly on that drive. (Use a consistent drive letter on each machine.) At the end of each session, backup as usual, with the backup file going onto the hard drive of whichever computer you are using. Also keep the working copy of each required multimedia file on that thumb drive. (The original copy is wherever you normally organize your pictures and documents, but Legacy doesn't need to search for it there.)
This provided sufficient redundancy, and you don't have to keep track of where you made the last change, or whether the other computer is running. You can take it traveling, with your laptop, and not require Internet access.
