I would not rely on ANY program to preserve my data. I would and do keep updated information at the likes of WorldConnect. I also will provide the account and password to one of my members of the family that has interests in family research. Maybe the public can only access the “Privatized” data but the person with the account and password can access the full data and down load a GEDCOM. True the attachments such as images will be lost, but those I do not use much at all. I have used a few images which are linked to the images stored at a free site of Rootsweb. Have a look at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET <http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=abernathy&id=I0024> &db=abernathy&id=I0024

Suppose that in the future Legacy disappears (knock on wood) so they don’t have it to maintain the database (or don't want to buy the program). I’m assuming that: 1. The export to GEDCOM format is the best way, but does it maintain ALL the information? It has the advantage that all the genealogy software can read it and being in .txt format even without a program it can be used. 2. Without computer what’s the best report to capture all the information in the database, so I can print it (for instance, annually) and keep it also in .txt format. It’s a little paranoic of me but I would like to know what is your opinion about this.
