Joan I use tagging in many ways here are 2 1) Using the Miscelleneous search button I have developed a focus group of all my oldest ancestors (end points of the pedegree tree). I generate a list and tag them with tag1. This way I can see at a glance if they are direct descendants. I can also use tag1 as part of normal searches for finding relatives who are missing death dates etc. and I can search for those living who are tag1 and use that for a birthdays calendar. 2) If I find information missing in New family Search I can tag the members of the family with Tag3 and use that Tag3 as part of the selection criteria for a gedcom export to New family Search. (Sending gedcom using tag3 to relatives who also maintain family trees is another variation on that theme) Alan
