Richard & Jerry,

Rhode Island Colony did not exist in 1638 - hence, my problem. I know others
prefer not to use the location as existing at the time of the event and
that's okay. But not knowing this information has sent me looking in all of
wrong places for records.

In reading responses I am now wondering which "Notes" you are using that
makes the information readily available on reports.

Thanks for your responses.

Kay

Easier? I use Rhode Island Colony in English Colonial America. Not accurate
but understandable. At the time, place names were not as specific.Rich in LA
CA

I've seen this discussed many times. I prefer to use the location as it was
at the time of the event. Searching the archives, most responded that they
show the current location in Notes. I'm currently entering family who
settled in Portsmouth, RI, in 1638 - starting out with my ancestor who had
14 children. I must add the current location for these parents and their
children - and then their descendants until the State of Rhode Island was
formed. It seems there must be an easier way. Any thoughts?

Regards,
Kay Fordham
