Marg, I do like having separate addresses, and you can print them in most
narrative/book reports (there's a report option); however, if you choose to do
that, it typically prints the entire address in parens after the
Location-------and if you are storing the entire address, then it is very
redundant. For example, I liked having "born in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan (St.
Jude's Hospital)" -- but to use the address for anything else, you really need
the full address. Then it would look like "born in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan
(St. Jude's Hospital, 100 Main Street, Detroit, Michigan 48213)" ----just a bit
too much. So, here I am still pondering! ;) If I set it up in the Location, I
could lose the street address (but I'm not worried about that)...... it would
look like "born in St. Jude's Hospital, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan". Possibly
okay. Need still to run through some search scenarios to decide. Thanks for
your feedback.

PS--Though Legacy says it is "wrong" to put the address at the front of the
location, there are many on the list that do it that way; hence, my short
survey. Personally, I don't think Legacy implemented the Address functionality
completely. It's a good idea, but not really finished. Another consideration
that weighs heavy for US customers is whether or not they are adhering strictly
to the 4-part Location; customers outside the US are used to not using Locations
the "proper" way because their Locations don't fit the 4-part "standard."
(another somewhat incompletely implemented item, imho... or rather, something
that wasn't necessarily upgraded for world-wide usage)

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Short survey: Location vs. Address

I can answer some of this but haven't used it much because I just read about the
address feature. Before I used to add it in front of the Location and recently
read that was wrong and messed up reports, so they offered the address feature.
The one problem I see with it is that I can't see the address at a glance. I
have to put it in an event for that.
Just a quick reflection from a very new learner!
