Brian, Oops - I usually am better about including links.
First, in the program Help this link does not work:

Backing Up and Restoring Family Files
Everything You Need to Know
About Backup and File Restoration
by James P. Terry
See the article on the Legacy website at:
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpMediaBackups.asp
5-510

But if I copy & paste that into my browser............ then mid-way down the
screen (without scrolling) you find:

Restoring Multimedia Backup Files
        * Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP all have a built Extraction
Wizard.
Just RIGHT click on a backup file (has a .ZIP extension) and click on Extract
All on the pop-up menu.
The Legacy program does not (yet) have a utility that will restore (unzip) a
multimedia backup. As a result, multimedia backup file cannot be restored in
Legacy the same way that a backed family file can. However, if you have Windows
7, Windows Vista or Windows XP you only need to insert your backup disk or
memory stick into the your pc and use the Extraction Wizard that comes with
Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.
1. Browse to the backed up multimedia file and click on it with the RIGHT mouse
button and then select Extract All from the popup menu.
>2. The Extraction window will open.

My suggestion is to not lead with "Just right click"... I had the folder on my
E: drive the first time; then I thought I remembered what had been discussed on
the LUG list but no... I got a Legacy folder added to Pictures; then one added
to Legacy, etc....... until I came back and read the whole thing.

Imho, the most important part is "Type C:\ as the folder..." ;)
Thanks for following up on this one! --Paula

Paula,

What does the first bullet say? What is the Help Topic Number, you will
find that at the very bottom of the help page. It will help me find the
particular Help topic.
