How about a compromise?   C://genealogy  I could put it in the root directory.  
 I have MANY things that aren't linked to Legacy which means I have two 
complete sets of identical folders.

I agree with Laird that Legacy pictures and documents belong under Legacy. My 
Documents is a relative folder (or Directory if using XP) and is unique to a 
computer.
