It is definitely a bug. A piece of software should NOT hang, regardless of what you have been doing or for how long.
So, I guess you are saying there is no plan to fix the bug. The workaround is to close and reopen legacy. ;-) The only change I had made to the family file before this happened this particular time, was to delete a marriage.
