In the case of records for which only a transcription is available to me I would do as you do, but where there is an original image I record what *I* see. Very often I agree that the transcription accurately reflects what is in the image, even though I know the image is wrong - as often happens with a Census where we are looking at what is already a transcription of an original (in the case of UK Censuses, anyway.) Sometimes it easier for me to read what was actually written than it is for a transcriber who may be working at speed in an alien language, because I know what I am looking for. As I record the full reference in my Citationss people can always find what I looked at (if it's still available somewhere) and make up their own minds. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
