I have a VuPoint hand scanner (by Magic Wand). The problem I have with it, and maybe all of this type, is it doesn't do well at all if you try to scan something from a bound volume UNLESS you have enough space between the margin and the binding. You can't lay the book flat enough to get a good scan on the side of the binding. The scan is distorted. I would STRONGLY suggest you have your computer handy and view what you scan prior to leaving the facility. If not, you get home and start to view what you thought was a good scan only to find it wasn't. I speak from experience! If the document can be laid flat for the scan they are great. gc
