Pat,You must first have a basic understanding of how children are linked to their parents. All children are linked to a marriage record of their parents (even if the union was not a formal marriage). The marriage record includes the RINs for the husband and wife if they are connected. If a spouse is unknown, then the marriage record does not contain a RIN for that spouse. If a marriage record exists for a couple that need children to be connected, you can navigate to one of those children in the family tab so that they are in either the husband or wife position. Then right-click on his or her parents which should be blank if you are linking to them for the first time. There will be 3 choices: Add a Father, Add a Mother, Link to Parents. Click on "Link to Parents" and find the marriage record of the parents you wish. If you click on "Add a Father" or "Add a Mother", Legacy will assume you are going to add a new marriage record and then populate it with individuals as the parents. This is why you have multiple marriage records for the same set of RINs as spouses. Lastly, as has been mentioned, you can also navigate to the parents and then add a child. Either way will work well.Ron Taylor
