Yes, I should have mentioned that there are sub-folders for each of the 4
multimedia file locations. My understanding is that Legacy will look in all
sub-folder of each specified location of Pictures, Sounds, Video, and
Documents. For example, the existing specified location for pictures is
"D:\Legacy Files\Pictures". Within that actual Pictures folder, there are about
10 sub-folders, entitled Census, Marriage, Death, Graves, etc.

When I look at an attached image to a source citation, Legacy shows only the
filename and never the complete path, thus my reasoning that Legacy will look
for that image in any of the sub-folders. I think what Legacy does is merely go
to the specified multimedia location and then parse down through any
sub-folders until it finds a matching filename that it was looking for.

Which is why you bring up the question about UNIQUE filenames. And yes, all of
the filenames throughout are unique. Try examining any image attached to a
source citation and Legacy appears to refer to that image only by the filename
and not the complete path (which would include a sub-folder). I realize that
there would be confusion galore if one sub-folder had a filename "image123.jpg"
and another sub-folder had another file with the same name, "image123.jpg".

So if I change my Pictures location from "D:\Legacy Files\Pictures" to
something like "G:\Legacy Files\Pictures", will Legacy link all images just as
before? There will be no other changes to filenames, sub-folder names. Only the
drive letter will be changing. Am I good to go? Anyone? Anyone?

Brian,

It may not be as bad as you think! But, a couple of questions are all your
images in the same folder, or are they in dfferent folders inc. sub-folders? If
the latter do all your images have a different i.e. unique file name? If the
images all have a unique file name there is not a problem, otherwise........
