Jay & Leon:

    For those of us who are not as technically proficient as you, could you
explain what the search strings do and do you fill in some spaces such as given
name and surname and, if so, what goes in the ROOT_CATEGORY if anything? And
what about the items in black such as [ ]=[%20]

Thanks Leon

Your ancestry string works MUCH better than the one I had... Thanks!

Here are a couple you can try:

Ancestry.com
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gl=ROOT_CATEGORY&rank=1&new=1&so=3&MSAV=0&msT=1&gss=ms_r_f-2_s&gsfn=[GivenNames]&gsln=[Surname]&msbdy=[BirthYear]&uidh=g1k
[]=[%20]
Ancestry.com - Legacy 8
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gl=ROOT_CATEGORY&rank=1&new=1&so=3&MSAV=0&msT=1&gss=ms_r_f-2_s&gsfn=[GivenNames]&gsln=[Surname]&msbdy=[StartYear]&uidh=000
[]=[+]

It's about time that I update my custom search strings so that they work better.

For a long time, most have just taken me to the web site where I either have to
add additional info or add everything.

The priority is Ancestry.com

Does anyone have any suggestions for anything better than

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gl=ROOT_CATEGORY&gsfn=[FirstName]&gsln=[Surname]

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
