My name tag at the big reunion I attend shows MYNAME on one line, and the name of the child of X from whom I descend on the next, and on the third my personal ID number (taken from our published genealogy). For my spouse, the third line /says/ "Spouse". (as in: MYNAME, 8403, Daniel.) We looked at color coding, but there were 8 kids and there aren't 8 colors you can count on everyone being able to see. Turquoise and peacock blue are the same color to a lot of people and what I call turquoise others might call aqua.
Another Reunion uses MyName on one line followed by the "call" names of all intervening generations in smaller type, which by the 12th generation of descent can get pretty small. (as in Bob, Dan, Mac, Charley, Sally, Dan, Mike, Eden, Mike, Miles, Rob, Walter, Ferd) A friend's family uses MyNAME, and the generation ## (as in, Charles SURNAME, 9th Generation). My friend thinks a separate card with the lineage would be good, because one cannot always remember whether one's ancestor was the 2nd child of the 3rd wife or the 3rd child of the 2nd wife!
