I'm sorry you lost your work. Next time something like that happens, try pressing Ctrl-Z as your first step - the universal command to 'undo'. May have to press it more than once; do it step by step and wait for a response before pressing it again, so you don't undo too far and lose your work.
This works in many text editor area - word processors, spreadsheets, etc. Very useful tool. Wendy J.M.
